This kind of therapy usually involves regular, weekly, face to face meetings, talking things through with a therapist. Within this safe and confidential relationship, you can reflect on who you are, where you want to be, your choices and your relationships.
Sometimes it is easier to be honest about yourself and your feelings with someone who is outside the situation and will not judge you. Our aim is not to give advice, but to help you understand yourself better and explore different ways of doing things.
Counselling won’t make problems go away, but hopefully it will help you understand and manage your feelings better. Your counsellor will help you recognise the choices available to you and help you find ways to support yourself in your decisions.
