Allie trained as a therapist in her home country of the USA. She works with couples and families as well as with individuals. She can offer short term solution-focused counselling and coaching as well as longer term psychotherapy, looking at how past experiences affect feelings and relationships today.
Allie has gained significant experience in various American Health and Social Support organisations as well as in schools and third sector organisations, working with a wide variety of presentations from anxiety and depression to relationship issues and low self esteem.
Allie has studied family systems in her MSc and has completed an Externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couple work. She uses elements of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), mindfulness and relaxation techniques in her work where this is helpful. She’s also trained in the Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) which is particularly useful for trauma and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) one of the latest approaches recommended by NICE in the UK for achieving effective behavioural change.
