I work with individuals and couples to explore the thoughts and feelings that shape daily life and relationships. Together, we try to make sense of experiences that bring distress or frustration. Over time, this work can help clients reconnect with aspects of themselves they may have lost touch with, whether recently or many years ago.

Julia Upton
Individual and couples psychotherapist
Julia qualified as a psychodynamic psychotherapist twenty years ago and has since worked both in the NHS, as a Specialist Adult Psychotherapist, and in private practice. During her time in the NHS, she also qualified as a Practitioner in Mentalisation Based Therapy. Along the way, she has enjoyed taking a couple of parenting courses.
Julia trained with Relate in 2020 and has been working with couples ever since. This work naturally led her towards the psychosexual field, and she is now undertaking an Advanced Diploma in this area, alongside the Diploma in CSBD at the Laurel Centre.
Julia is fascinated by how we use words, how therapy “makes the unconscious conscious”, and the connection between the two.
